Post Doc - Mechanistic modelling expert for vertebrate (mammal) populations (m/f/d)


  • The role focus and target is the translation of individual toxicity results from laboratory experiments and (semi-)field studies to relevant wild mammal populations, including using and/or developing relevant mechanistic simulation models
  • Assess effects of Bayer crop protection assets on wild mammals in agricultural ecosystems/landscapes and contribute to the environmental risk assessment of the products: use and evaluate all available information (literature, results from experiments, modelling etc.) in order to define the risk profile of a product for wild mammals
  • In the context of crop protection product regulatory (re-)authorization in Europe, provide relevant scientific support to dossier writers and risk assessors and potentially contribute in meetings with authorities
  • Engage in interdisciplinary internal and external scientific projects to develop relevant tools for science-based risk assessment of pesticides
  • Assist our technical teams by contributing to study design, result interpretation and extrapolation from laboratory to field population (e.g. different species, exposure situation, climate)
  • Support worldwide colleagues in their task to assess risks of the Bayer products to vertebrates in their context and global region
  • You have experience in population modelling; a background in animal physiology, autecology and/or toxicology, endocrinology, ecotoxicology for mammals is an advantage
  • You are curious to gain mechanistic understanding of relevant biological processes and effects, making use of state-of-the-art as well innovative approaches (e.g. Adverse Outcome Pathway informed assessment).
  • You have a Ph.D., or M.Sc. with professional experience in the field of biology, ecology, toxicology, pharmacology, computational science or related field of science
  • You are open-minded and impactful with your working style; you should be collaborative and also comfortable working independently, goal-oriented and focused on innovations to support problem solving
  • You are looking for effective and constructive international cooperation, within and outside Bayer
  • You have good English skills (spoken and written) and you are a good communicator. You are prepared for possible business travel within Europe
