Senior Scientist as Team Lead Protein Glycan & Structure Analysis (gn) Formycon is a leading, independent developer of high-quality biopharmaceutical medicines, especially biosimilars. With an experienced team comprised of more than 170 professionals, the company is able to span the entire value chain of biosimilar drug development, from market analysis and protein analytics, to the development of production processes, to clinical trials and the regulatory approval process.
Formycon is making a major contribution towards providing as many patients as possible with access to vital and affordable medicines. Based on its extensive experience in the development of biopharmaceutical drugs, the company is also working on the development of a COVID-19 fusion protein.
The glycan analysis and structure group of Formycon currently consists of two analysts and three lab assistants. Our area of activity is the characterization of biosimilars in a regulated environment. In this context, we perform routine analyses for e.g. similarity assessment, stabilities and process development samples. The method panel includes structural characterization by FTIR, CD spectroscopy and nanoDSF as well as N?glycan profiling by HILIC-UPLC. To support the team in Martinsried near Munich, we are looking for suitable candidates for this full-time and permanent position, to begin work as soon as possible.
- Coordination and responsibility for timelines of routine analyses for glycosylated therapeutic proteins, method development and qualification
- Verification of data evaluation and second person review of experiment documentation for N-glycan analysis, FTIR- and CD-spectroscopy and nanoDSF, troubleshooting
- Responsibility for laboratory personnel including performance reviews and recruiting
- Coordination of tasks for lab assistants (e.g. sample management, shipments and equipment qualification)
- Compilation and review of scientific reports (e.g. SOPs, method development and qualification plans and reports) and support the generation of chapters for international registration documents
- Management of laboratory safety, infrastructure and equipment qualification
- Adherence to and continuous improvement of internal quality standards and workflows
- Master (or equivalent) and 6-7 years of relevant work experience or PhD and 3 years of relevant work experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, especially in a GMP/GLP-regulated environment
- Very good team player with strong teamleading skills
- Profound theoretical & practical experience in N-glycan analysis and/or protein spectroscopy
- Well organized, proactive and result-oriented person with excellent problem-solving skills
- Creativity and enthusiasm for working in a dynamic fast-growing biopharmaceutical company
- Fluent in written and spoken English required, German knowledge is desirable
