THE POSITIONResearch Focus – Central mechanisms of next generation peptide drugs for obesity We are looking for a talented scientist who shares our ambition for the discovery of innovative therapeutic strategies to fight obesity. We aim for in-depth investigation of neuronal mechanisms and circuitry that affect energy intake and expenditure as response to regulatory peptides.

Tasks & responsibilities- In your new role you are responsible for the independent design, execution, analysis, and documentation of scientific experiments in line with goals and objectives of the Cardiometabolic Disease Research (CMDR) department at Boehringer Ingelheim.
- To measure oxygen consumption, the metabolic rate, and pathway activation you work with and modify primary human cells lines and establish respective assays.
- Your experimental studies and respective data support internal research projects and thereby contribute to the success of our drug discovery pipeline.
- By analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data to project teams and the management, you actively participate in scientific discussions.
- In interdisciplinary teams, you actively collaborate with other departments and academic experts.
- You participate in scientific discussions and publish breakthrough research in agreement with company guidelines.
Requirements - Master’s degree in (Molecular) Biology or related disciplines. A doctorate is desirable.
- Hands-on experience in (primary) cell culture and in using state-of-the-art technologies to interrogate signaling pathways and genes
- Extensive experience with various transfection systems including viral expression vectors
- Solid understanding of cellular and molecular biology, knowledge in the field of energy metabolism is a plus
- Demonstrated track record of publications in scientific journals
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams in a drug discovery-oriented environment
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
