THE POSITION

Are you looking for an opportunity to unravel the contribution of myeloid and lymphoid immune cells in NASH patients?

We offer the unique chance to work with data from multi-omics analyses of blood and liver immune cells from NASH patients and translate these findings to new concepts by designing and conducting in vitro experiments.

• In your new role you are responsible for the validation of findings from multi-omics investigations. That includes the establishment of relevant in-vitro assays to investigate the contribution of immune cells to NASH progression.
• You have the chance to gain insights into major biological questions related to NASH and liver fibrosis, whilst getting an overview on existing multi-omic data sets and relevant cellular systems in this context.
• In addition, you contribute to publications of selected subsets from existing and emerging multi-omic data sets from patient cohorts or relevant preclinical models.
• You collaborate closely with our genomics lab and our global Computational Biology and Digital Science (gCBDS) department to identify gaps in cellular assays or omic-datasets and to develop strategies to fill those gaps.
• By identifying new targets or emerging areas of interest in the context of NASH you contribute to important and interesting projects.

Requirements

• PhD with a proven publication track record in immunology or a similar discipline. A successful post-doctoral fellowship is a plus
• Experience with primary cell culture techniques (mono or co-culture), multi-color flow cytometry and the interpretation of multi-omics datasets is preferred
• Fundamental understanding of inflammatory mechanisms in NASH and / or other fibrotic diseases
• Strong motivation to work independently with interdisciplinary teams and to establish networks within the organization
• Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as fluency in English
