As Head of Laboratory, you combine a strong pharma industry background with deep scientific expertise in chemical analysis and physicochemical characterization. In addition, you are a creative driver of change, with experience in leadership roles within pharmaceutical Research and Development.
We are offering the exciting opportunity to join our team of highly innovative physicochemical compound profilers and formulation scientists as a Head of Laboratory within Drug Discovery Sciences, located in Biberach, Germany, the company’s largest Research & Development site.

Tasks & responsibilities- In your new role, you lead a team focused on the chemical / analytical characterization (e.g. stability, purity, solubility) of new molecular entities with a focus on small molecules but also including peptides and oligonucleotides
- You are working in close collaboration with colleagues in CMC development functions to assure a seamless transfer of clinical development candidates from research to development.
- Responsibility for outsourcing activities of the group at contract research organizations is part of your profile too.
- You coordinate the supervision of different IT systems within the group (e.g. LIMS, EMPOWER, compound databases).
- Part of your responsibility is also the scientific and technological guidance of technicians to ensure high-level education and personal development of the team.
- In international research project teams, you represent all CMC related topics, you actively contribute to the characterization and selection of clinical development candidates and you provide CMC specific scientific guidance to the team.
Requirements - PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry or related discipline
- Longtime professional experience in leading scientist and technicians within the pharmaceutical industry
- Several years of relevant experience in the area of chemical analysis and physicochemical characterization of new chemical entities (focus on small molecules but also including peptides and oligonucleotides)
- Excellent overview of scientific literature and already established scientific network round up your profile
- State of the art knowledge in analytical technologies (e.g. HPLC-UV/MS, UV/fluorescence spectroscopic methods, light scattering)
- Teamplayer with strong communication skills
- Excellent communication skills in German and English
