As senior scientist, you combine cutting-edge scientific expertise in immunology, in vivo pharmacology, and cancer biology. Through hands-on work, external partners and collaboration, you test new therapeutic concepts and combinations in immune-oncology models and help projects move forward towards development.

As senior scientist in the Cancer Immunology department within Discovery Research Germany, you will actively contribute and leverage available resources to help bringing innovative approaches to clinics and to patients.

Tasks & responsibilities

• With your strong scientific interest and pharmacological expertise, you test and characterize new therapeutics for the immunological treatment of cancer patients.
• Through your own experiments and in collaboration with others, you drive projects forward in the drug development pipeline in a collaborative spirit.
• You work closely with other scientists from various backgrounds (computational biology, pharmacology, target discovery) on- or across sites as well as with external partners.
• Communicating information to key stakeholders with scientific rigor in a timely manner is part of your responsibilities too.
• You also contribute actively to a strong scientific culture and implement state-of-the-art technologies and pre-clinical models in the department

• Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. pharmacology, oncology, immunology) with long-term professional experience, alternatively PhD with several years of expertise
• Hands-on experience with relevant model systems (e.g. syngeneic tumor models, analysis of immune infiltrates, isolation and culture of immune primary cells, flow cytometry and common immunology/cell biology techniques) with a demonstrated ability to drive scientific projects
• Comprehensive understanding of scientific principles of cancer immunology with excellent technical skills in associated methods as evidenced by multiple peer-reviewed publications (first author).
• Felasa B or other animal work certifications and statistical analysis of datasets
