For our Biosafety department located in Erkrath, Germany we are seeking an experienced


Head Biosafety (m/f/d)

Your duties and responsibilities
  • You lead, manage and control the biosafety department including disciplinary personal management of around 30 scientists and technical assistants
  • Lead and motivate your team to implement plans, specifications and achieve agreed goals in line with the company goals (via OKR and KPIs) including performance reviews
  • You enable and develop talent according to the identified career path and skill gaps
  • Leverage strong leadership to develop and bind highly qualified employees to the company and to offer stimuli for reaching ambitious objectives
  • You continuously improve processes and KPIs while taking advantage of business opportunities
  • Ensure appropriate budget management of non-personnel and personnel-related costs
  • Support knowledge transfer to provide an upskilling on areas of improvement
  • Communicate with domestic and foreign clients
  • You engage with other functions and heads to meet our company OKR
  • Cooperate with marketing and sales about testing capabilities and presentation of the company
  • Manage the laboratory in accordance with the Infection Protection Act, the Animal Health Ordinance, GMOs, and cells and viruses under GMP conditions
Your qualifications: This position would suit an ambitious, flexible and team-orientated individual who is motivated to achieve results and is eager to lead people. You will also be expected to have:
  • Education: University degree in natural science, e.g. Pharmacy, (Bio-) Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology
  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in a leading role within a service company in a biotech sector, CMO or CRO
  • Excellent analytical skills and excellent at bringing strategic ideas to the operational implementation
  • Knowledge of the GMP quality assurance standards
  • Expertise (theoretical/practical) in the fields of cell biology, virology, microbiology
  • Good ability to build trustful and open working relationships in all layers of a (matrix) organization
  • Structured and pragmatic organizational talent, but due to your “entrepreneurial mindset” you also like to work on strategic topics
  • Very good communication and presentation skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate with various target groups
  • Experience in leading and motivating people
  • High organizational skills in a fast changing environment
  • Fluency in both English and German (oral and written)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, ERP and CRM system
