At the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU), Department of Experimental Physics (working group "Broadband Infrared Diagnostics", research group of Dr. Zigman, attoworld.de/bird) in Garching, there is an immediate vacancy for a Chemical-Technical / Biological-Technical Assistant / Biological Laboratory Assistant.
In frame of Lasers4Life research (www.lasers4life.de), a platform through which the latest developments in research in the field of ultrashort laser pulses are transferred to medical applications, we focus on cancer diagnostics. The consortium is driven by interdisciplinary scientific collaborations between molecular biologists, computer scientists and laser physicists from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ) and the Center for Molecular Fingerprinting (CMF, Budapest). Our primary goal is to open up new avenues for effective blood-based cancer diagnostics. We focus on translational research with a focus on molecular infrared analysis of human blood.
- Supporting the scientific staff in ongoing research projects;
- Assisting in the maintenance of the biological analysis laboratory;
- Routine sample handling, processing, storage, aliquoting of samples and database entry and established infrared spectroscopy of human blood samples and molecular analytical techniques;
- Performing quality control testing to ensure sample quality and data integrity;
- Documentation of laboratory activities using a laboratory information and management system (LIMS);
- Developing SOPs in collaboration with the laboratory head and other team members;
- General laboratory work.
You have practical experience with the common techniques of analytical chemistry, as well as molecular biological methods, and are motivated to learn new techniques. You have good English skills, successfully completed vocational training as a CTA, BTA or MTA or comparable training.
- Degree as a chemical / biological / biotechnological / medical technical assistant or Bachelor's degree in biology / biotechnology or equivalent and related fields;
- Work experience in a GxP environment is an advantage;
- Good English skills are a prerequisite;
- Knowledge of computers at user level, confident use of MS-Office is a prerequisite;
- Quick comprehension and good communication skills;
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team;
- Good communication skills;
- Enjoy tinkering and repairing.
