Scientist in the field of biostatistics for maize and oilseed crops (m/f/d)

We are looking to recruit as soon as possible a Scientist in the field of biostatistics for maize and oilseed crops (m/f/d) for an unlimited period and on a full-time basis within KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA at our headquarters in Einbeck (Lower Saxony / Germany).

In this position, you will strongly collaborate with the maize and oilseed crops breeding and research teams worldwide and with scientists from multiple areas.Your responsibilities:
  • Responsible to support breeding programs with statistical data analysis and research in the context of quantitative genetics and predictive breeding
  • Close interaction with breeding programs to investigate and optimize breeding schemes
  • Develop concepts and prototype new statistical approaches in collaboration with breeding and biostatistics teams
  • Training and supporting maize and oilseed crop breeding and research teams in applying statistical approaches
  • Regular participation and contribution to working group meetings, workshops, and breeders meetings
Bring in your strengths:
  • Ph.D. or master’s degree with the first experience in plant or animal breeding, plant genetics, mathematics, or statistics
  • Knowledge of plant breeding and/or quantitative genetics and high interest in testing and developing new ideas and approaches
  • Ability to manage large data analysis based on good knowledge and skills with R software and/or other programming languages e.g. Python, C++, Fortran
  • Experience with quantitative genetic approaches, e.g. genomic prediction analytics, population genetics, GWAS, etc. is a plus
  • Excellent team player, analytical and critical thinking, open-minded, and good communication skills
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Attendance for traveling occasionally
