PostDoc Biology - Entomology, Plant Breeding (m/f/d)

• Develop innovative testing capabilities to be able to detect differences in the behavior of oilseed rape genotypes toward flea beetles
• Establish and maintain appropriate oilseed rape cultivars and insect pest cultures
• Plan and carry out experiments independently, interpret experimental results and use those insights for the optimization of test systems
• Investigate mechanisms of tolerance or resistance against flea beetles
• Contribute to collaboration projects, communicate and cooperate across diverse functions and research teams
• Keep up to date with literature in relevant fields on own initiative and exhibit ownership of assigned tasks
• Plan and carry project goals based on agreed priorities and deadlines
• Communicate results and propose required future experiments
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

• PhD in biology or related disciplines with strong background in entomology and/or plant breeding, ideally with a focus on tolerance/resistance breeding
• Demonstrated experience in plant breeding or entomological techniques
• Experience in the handling and interpretation of large data sets, statistics, strong familiarity with standard IT tools (e.g. MS Office) and highly computer literate
• Ability and willingness to work closely with scientists from different disciplines and to learn and acquire relevant new skill sets
• Well organized record keeping and report writing
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team as well as good interpersonal and communication skills
• Professional fluency in English, both verbal and written
