The Head of R&D Information Technology (HoRDIT) is responsible for leadership and continuous operation and improvement of the R&D IT hard- and software infrastructure across all R&D functions, software lifecycle stages and application platforms including on-premises and cloud solutions. This role is responsible for the seamless integration of dedicated R&D IT requirements in breeding and research into a productive data management environment. In addition, the HoRDIT acts as the interface of the KWS R&D organization with the relevant Global IT functions.
This is what you can look forward to:- Co-definition and full implementation of the R&D digitalization strategy embedded into the overall R&D strategy
- Defining the objectives and investment in the area of software development, hardware operations and cloud solutions to ensure implementation of the future needs of the breeding and research functions
- Drive across crops and locations the design of hardware and software solutions
- Interface-management and “make or buy” decisions of the R&D IT platform
- Development and implementation of future-oriented database- and operations concepts and software solutions, which secure functionality in an exponentially growing data field
- Lead operational setup of software development and IT product support teams
- Operation of the on-premises and cloud-based R&D specific IT infrastructure
- Manage the interface with global IT and business units, balancing global, as well as R&D needs and deriving potential synergies
- Assure the continuous service delivery for highly productive digital systems supporting the whole KWS R&D organization
- To achieve this, the Head of R&D Information Technology (all gender) reports to the Global Head of Digital Field Technologies and Data Analytics and works together with the Head of Data Analytics, the Head of Field Technologies and the Head of Phenotyping to identify future-oriented Soft- and Hardware solutions, and works with the relevant steering bodies for the R&D IT strategy
Who you are and what you bring to the table: - Academic examination in information technology or computer science or a closely related field
- Extensive working expertise in IT management or software development preferably in industry
- Working expertise in Breeding, Crop-Protection-, or Life-Science R&D field are beneficial
- Several years of relevant leadership experience in a comparable field
- Deep knowledge in the field of software development, IT infrastructure, and data management with a sound capability of translating scientific and operational requirements into a productive data management environment
- Ability to understand diverse and complex content areas in a fast-moving environment, and translation into value-adding concepts
- Strong self-motivated driver who seeks continuous improvement and supports decision making at various levels of the organization
- Solution-oriented mentality with an open and cooperative mindset and a high degree of customer orientation
- Ability to integrate and steer diverse teams
- Effective communication skills and ability to connect with a diverse audience and build trust
- Fluency in English
