Beschreibung

The German Climate Computing Center (Deutsches Klimarechenzentrum, DKRZ) is a central service center for German climate and earth system research. Its high performance computers, data storage and services form the central research infrastructure for simulation based climate science in Germany. As a reliable partner, the DKRZ is integrated in a variety of national and international research and infrastructure activities, such as the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

Research data is often used in interdisciplinary research contexts and thus needs to be findable based on (semantic) metadata. In addition, data entities are related to other entities (publications, other data or software entities etc.) which are important to be represented in an internal data model for a search portal. As part of the EU-funded project FAIRCORE4EOSC, a flexible search portal extension will be developed based on a knowledge graph representation of searchable entities. In this context we are looking for a

Software Developer / Scientific Programmer (all genders)

The scope of the work will be to stepwise establish a knowledge graph model and associated tools to ingest data and search its content. An agile approach will be used to develop a first prototype and refine this based on concrete usage scenarios. Thus this work will be carried out in a small team having a clear vision of the context this knowledge representation will be used in. Entities in this representation mainly relate to information harvested from remote data portals (search metadata), which will be enriched by additional knowledge (e.g. relation to institutions, citation information etc.). The open source software development will be done using standard technology (git, continuous integration tests etc.). In a second step this prototype will be deployed alongside and integrated with an existing search portal solution.
